Concept
The program draws inspiration from the words of Daisetsu Suzuki, a Buddhist philosopher from Kanazawa known worldwide for introducing Zen thought to the West:
“We are all born as artists of life. Beyond literature and art, human life itself becomes a poem. Not only the poets who write with words — every gesture of ours can be poetry, and life itself can be something artistically beautiful.Life is like an ink painting — it must be drawn once and only once, without hesitation, without overthinking.”(From “Chichi” magazine, August 2020 issue, special feature on Daisetsu Suzuki)
Program Themes
Discovering and embodying inner beauty
Cultivating your own Artist of Life through experience and dialogue
Main Theme
Through experiences and dialogue in Kanazawa — a city where aesthetics and philosophy intertwine —participants will encounter expressions of beauty, awaken to their own sense of inner beauty and aesthetics, and ultimately bring that awareness back into their lives as a personal form of expression and way of being.
Schedule
December 1 - 8, 2025
A detailed daily schedule will be shared exclusively with participants via a private online community.

Day 1: Check-in and Welcome Dinner
Day 2: Calligraphy Art Workshop by Yuki Nakatani

Focusing on the "line," the foundation of calligraphy, we will begin with a lesson to learn the basics of line. After that, we will express "the self as it is now" in the form of an abstract painting. Because calligraphy allows you to express your true self through the brush, we hope that this will be an opportunity for you to take a new look at yourself.
Day 3: Meditation Workshop and Matcha-fullness Workshop
Meditation Workshop by Mana Tokita

This is brain and heart training that calms the mind and focuses attention on one's inner self in the present moment. While "mindfulness" refers to a state in which one sharpens the five senses and focuses on what is happening outside of oneself in the present moment, "meditation" is a method of shutting down the senses and focusing on one's inner self.
Even experienced yogis find it extremely difficult to suddenly close their eyes and enter a meditative state. In this lesson, we will first use breathing techniques and stretching to align the vibrations of the space and the body, and then meditate by carefully focusing on breathing. This will gently loosen up the brains of those who are busy every day and have to focus on many things at once.
Matcha-fullness Workshop by Yuki Okamoto

For those who travel and work , constantly on the move and immersed in a torrent of information,
time to reset the mind and hone one's sensibilities is an important activity that helps restore creativity and flexibility. "Tea Battle" dates back to the Kamakura period, a traditional tasting game in which participants compare multiple matcha teas and sense the differences between them. It is said to be the precursor to the tea ceremony.
What's important here isn't the "correct answer," but rather the opportunity to reflect on one's inner self with each bowl.
By focusing on the aroma, taste, and color, the mind is naturally led into a meditative state.
Day 4: Omamori Drawing

Kayo Nomura will create an improvised palm-sized piece of art that will become your "lucky charm" through dialogue. This retreat will focus on and explore the inner beauty within yourself. (Approximately 15 minutes / Artwork size: 55mm x 91mm)
Day 5: Art & Dialog
Day 6: Integration Session
Day 7: Farewell Dinner
